Looking for a speaker recommendation

I bought a Velleman 7W mono amplifier a while back (the one shown here) with the intention of making a small portable amp/speaker box to use with my iPod. Can anyone recommend a good-sounding speaker to use with it? Apologies if this is a rather amateurish question. I just discovered this site and it seems like something that I could really get carried away with, but I guess I have to start somewhere. And also, could anyone recommend a second project, after I finish this little one?

Many thanks in advance.

Have a look around the Fullrange forum as there are plenty of speakers to be had. Look for some using the Fostex FE127E (maybe FE107E) or CSS FR125S as are a good drivers to kick off in the hobby.

A good place to start for amps would be in the Chipamp forum and look at some using the LM3875 or LM3886.

Good chipamp kit suppliers are members of this forum:

Thanks for the reply. Do you think those speakers could be driven by the amplifier that I linked to? Its specs indicate music power output of 7W / 4ohm and RMS output of 3.5W / 4ohm or 2W / 8ohm. Will I be able to do anything with this, or should I just forget about it and get a more powerful amplifier? This first project doesn't need to be super high quality, just a little speaker box that I could maybe run from batteries and take out in the yard.
