I think it's a ceramic capacitor, it measures 1.03uf on my meter but I am having doubts as to this parts identity.
Thanks for any help. PaulCC |

I would guess its a low voltage ceramic capacitor.
But then again they stuff all sorts of things into a package like that. Inductors, varistors, etc. although i doubt any of which could have 1uf of capacitance. |

Capacitor markings - the first two digits are the value and the third is the number of zeroes. So "104" is a 100000 picofarad or 100nF capacitor, and "224" is a 220000 pF or 220nF capacitor. The letter following the three numbers indicates tolerance, but that's not really important for this application.
(stolen and abbreviated from: http://www.smspower.org/smsreader/parts.html) Being just 105 on it I think it's a capacitor. your meter thinks so too, to be sure check it on ohms as well, you will see low resistance increasing to infinity with time as the cap charges from the voltage form the meter. 10 with 5 zeroes picofarads. 10 00000 pF 10 00 nF (remove 3 zeroes) 1.0 uF (remove three zeroes) It will have a very high ESR (no good for high current or ripple suppression), it will not be particularly stable with temperature. It would be suited to very high freqiency use.
