Thanks. Well it's either this pot or getting the Vishay S-102 resistor volume control from Placetteaudio.com, which is $1000. But I wonder if anyone has ever heard this carbon wiper control compared to the less costly Alps or stepped attenuators?

A 47 position Shallco will cost you US$ 100 from Percy Audio and a few handfull of resistors plus a lot of time.
Used as a shunt pot you have only one resistor in series with the signal and one to ground for each setting, NOT a string!
Easy to calculate 1.5 dB steps and a wide range as many steps
