Default What type of board to use for this reclocking circuit?

I'm building a reclocking circuit for my dac. I need help choosing a board with appropriate diameter througholes for the parts: 14-dip and 16-dip flip flops a tent clock and tent shunt reg with a handful of caps and a few screw terminals for wiring to and from board. This will be all point to point including gnd bus wire.

The ideal dimension would be approx 2" x 7" with througholes that accept the above parts.

Thanks, Mike

Mike,

Before you decide anything, search for info on a Flea PCB, here and on Google.

Thanks for the suggestion. As far as I am able to understand, the flea pcb is a circuit not a blank board. I am implementing a reclocking circuit that is specific to my dac and source.

This is my first board level project and need some help spec/sourcing a blank perforated board. epoxy? with througholes of a diam and spacing that will work with 74hc74 flops, tent clock and standard resistor leads, etc. Thanks for any suggestions.

Almost all protoboard you find will have holes drilled on 100mil centres, which will fit standard DIP packages (and TO-220 and most other common TH parts).

I haven't found a good source for these though, DigiKey is grossly overpriced and none of my local B&M's have a good stock. I usually source my protoboards from random eBay sellers, but YMMV with this. I believe RadioShack carries a few different protoboard layouts that may suit your needs.

Thank you! I was just on the 74HC74 flop datasheet to check on the spacing and pin diameters. The digikey boards are expensive! Their hole diam is 0.042" which appears large enough for these flops, standard size resistor and cap leads, etc.

Looks like 0.042" diam will just allow an 18awg wire to be threaded through. So this looks like it will work with 0.1" standard spacing

I'll check out radioshack. thanks again!

Try these (reasonable):

Hope this helps! Good Luck!
