The very first one has a sweep function, but it's a complicated project.
If you only need a set sweep range, the absolutely easiest way I can think of would be to load a sound file of the sweep onto a cheap portable device like an mp3 player. Is using a PC an option?

Maxim has a chip that does it. Look for Function Generator, I forgot the exact type number.
Edit: MAX038 Jan Didden

aah sorry! Started with the second link.
Hm, PC and expensive circuitry is not an option. I wanted to build a cheap, simple interval circuit for synchronus motors. Maybe a good way to get in touch with microcontrollers. But that would take to much time. Call it a sunday afternoon project. regards |

There are modern and better ways, but I'd just go to my junk bin and pull out an old 8038 or one of the Exar chips.

How nice does the sinusoid have to look like ?
There are methods to generate sinusoidal approximations using shift registers and resistors. The shift register can be clocked by the VCO part of a 4046 CMOS PLL IC. Regards Charles |

starting from zero it might take a little more than a afternoon but you could probably progam this that quickly if you are familiar with uC dev environments:
http://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/fold...430-f2013.html complete developement kit only US$20, spare uC boards US$10 example code "Using PWM Timer_B as a DAC": http://focus.ti.com/lit/an/slaa116/slaa116.pdf also cheap mp3 player could be dedicated to the task, easier if battery power ok, could add power thru usb port for cont operation, some older 256K/512K flash devices can be found for <US$30 |
