OK, I've looked on the Melles Griot site.
Reasonably standard glass is good to 2um. Fused silica goes to maybe 2.5um, and then has another transmission window round 3.5um. Sapphire is good to nearly 8um, but is not cheap! If you really want to do the thermal IR (out to say 12um), you need materials that are opaque in the visible, like silicon or germanium. |
