Well.... "wet" caps has a limited life time determend by age, Working Voltage and "On hours", so for that part you should turn your amp off......
However the Inrush current on the caps (when discharged) when turning your amp on again also "eat" some of the life time...

Well, I think you can expect limited life expectancy regardless - who knows, maybe 20 years? That's far enuff in the future where I personally don't worry about it.
I think Nelson's X amps go into standby where the caps and psu stay on - when you press the front panel switch. I think he's keeping the front end warm and is not too worried about the caps dying too early<I could be wrong bout this..
