I have a Weller WP25 soldering iron, and currently, it gets hot when I plug it in, but not hot enough to melt solder. I did switch the tip to a thinner tip a couple of months ago, and I think it did work after that. Is tehre anything I should check?

Sounds like a bad heating element. They do eventually die.

If it's not the heating element then the tip may not be securely fastened to the element.
