Hey, I would like to mod a circuit I have that currently uses surface mount IC's I would like to remove these and replace them with surface mount 8 pin DIP sockets. I have bee looking online for a pic or example of these sockets but am having trouble locating them. I am new to this stuff. Thx for any help guys.

That's because you usually go from a DIP to a SO not the other way around! I've seen special surface mount headers for micro controllers that you solder to the board then have an adapter that goes to a DIP part but don't remember coming across anything for an SO8 part. Somebody has to make them though. Have you searched Digikey, Mouser, etc?

I understand that. I want to remove the surface mount opamps and replace them with DIP sockets so I can try different chips. I will look around thanks.

I need the reverse of this. I need to go from a so8 footprint to a 8pin Dip. Maybe I could just figure somthing out on my own.. I find it hard to believe these are this hard to find though.

That IS what your looking for.

If you solder a DIP-8 socket on that adapter is should be exactly what you need. It can also be used as a single to dual SO8 adapter, which I think is causing some confusion.
