Default Going active on the cheap

I'm looking for a cheap, 2way setup. I think i've decided on a CX2310 and a pair of Sonic t-amps. It's for a pair of line arrays, so they're not very power hungry. Am I wrong in thinking all I need is the crossover, amps, and some XLR to RCA connectors to hook up to my reciever to be functional?

Nope Although you'll want to hook your source up to the crossover and the crossover to the amps, so you might need RCA to XLR (depending on what connectors your source has) and XLR to RCA (the T-amps have 1/8" stereo phone plug connections so you'd need to mod that to get RCA jacks). Or you could just hardwire the connectors to the amps.

I use this approach, it works quite well, there is a catch the active x-over does not take into account Baffle step(BS) response from speakers, your need some BS compensation to improve bass response, if not your speakers may sound bass deficient.

cheers...

no cheap one.

try dcx 2496 digital x-over at about US$250. excellent unit for that price. This unit can do BSC.(from reading the postings by others and research). I will be getting one later. Buy this when you have more money rather than getting the 2310, you may want to sell it later. I have the 3210 analog version secondhand I don't pay much.
