I would like to house a specialised circuit board on a 1m² piece of Perspex-acrylic sheet for a creation, with a massive array of copper sticky tape lines going from the surface of the acrylic into the circuit board...
however, it turns out that when you have acrylic near you makes all your hairs stand on end, so it would be madness to mix of acrylic with microchips. what would happen? would the chips get fried fast, would have they just have muddled signals, does polycarbonate sheet also have a massive charge like Perspex? what are the best alternatives for a lightweight non conductive sheet, perhaps I should try correx? http://stores.ebay.co.uk/CPS-Supplie...41281QQfrsrcZ1 |

Electrostatic discharge will kill your chips.
You can use anti-static spray, or strong white foam sandwich cardboard instead of plastic... |

Weird. I have both my power amp (LM3886 based) and preamp sitting on a sheet of http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/3mm-Safety-Mir...QQcmdZViewItem and it has been running fine 24/7 for a good few months now. The stuff I got from there didn't feel 'staticy' either though.
