I've got a Creative 2.1 system on which the right channel went out. Everything looks perfect on the PCB, except the above part seemed to be quite hot to the touch. When I swapped the two volume controllers with each other, the right channel came on and the sub stopped working. This seems to be a common issue with these speakers so I will be posting my success/failure to the Creative boards, which will help a lot of people out.
It seems that the original manufacturer might have been Renesas. DigiKey doesn't carry this part #. The only place I've found that might have it is PartStore. But they have RCA, Panasonic, Denon, etc. for same part # (ranging from $7-16). Will any of these work or is there another place that might have what I need? It's a 14-pin IC that has only one other number on it - 45001. Thanks! |

Any luck with your system?
I have the same speakers and they also died on me. Regards |

I dismissed it as a dead-end set. I found the controllers online for $30 (both, shipped), but in the end figured that I'd get better/reliable results from my t-amp ($30). I've also tried Klipsch 2.1 before coming to this conclusion, which were DOA.
I'd swap out the controllers on the PCB to see if the dead channel moves elsewhere. If you decide to repair it, google 'M51132L'. You might also want to try out one of the off-brands mentioned in my main post. Good luck! |

Can you give me the name of the one you ordered yours from? I still don't know what's wrong with my speakers, have to look into it first. Regards |

The m51132L is an old Mitsubishi part...Now renesas...its a DC volume control IC. I think the M5222 is a proper replacement.
