![]() Hi, I just picked one of these up for a reasonable price off eBay. It turns on, and I get a dot in the middle, but I have no probes or anything. I found and downloaded the service manual, but have yet to make heads or tails of it. First off, does anyone have any recommendations for probes that I should try picking up? I don't know what else to do to make sure the thing works, I assume that fooling around with my CD player's output once I have probes should give me more of an indication... |

Ideally a x1/x10 probe or one of each. Can you get a verticle trace with no probes? Select say 500ms on the sec/div and 500mv on the volts/div.Select channel 1 DC and you may have to adjust the trigger control a bit. Dave

$50 or so including shipping. I was actually anticipating having to do some work on it. Should I pop the cover and take a look?

Yeah. There's a little cluster of Sprague .01uF 4000V caps near the wire headed to the anode of the CRT

Flipping the thing over, I saw a few areas with burned components. The Sharpie writing on the board confirmed my suspicions that someone else had tried to service this scope. A bunch of screws are also missing from the chassis, and some of them looked a bit chewed up. I guess he wasn't very good at repairing things...
