Behringer XAir X18 Connectivity

Here's the scenario. Wireless router connected to X18. Laptop connected to router. Want to run X18 from laptop, for hardwire like security. Want to hop on ipad to walk around. I'm no IT guy but not stupid either. I've tried so many different combinations and still can't get it to latch up. Problem is, it was working great hooked up just like I described, but I couldn't hook up to my Dante network. When I fixed that my X18 went away. Any Behringer connectivity gurus on here?

Did you switch the 'Remote' on the back to 'Access Point'? That's needed for the pad to work. Otherwise you'd have to use an external router and the ethernet port, with no direct connection of the pad to the XAir. You cannot use both at the same time.
