The loudest concert I ever went to was a Status Quo concert in Glasgow at the Apollo Theatre in 1977. I stood behind a pillar and it was still deafening.
I couldn't hear properly for 3 days afterwards.
They cant get away with it these days with limits on sound levels.

I know what you mean, if an a smaller scale - I went to a local gig to see a well known local band at a leisure centre. The sound in the hall was so loud you couldn't hear it, but if you went out of the hall, down the long corridor, through four or five fire doors, and in to the toilets it sounded great!
