Has anybody used this to aid in PA setup?

I was under the impression that it's a pretty standard technique on big PA setups, stick pink noise through the system and use a graphic equaliser to level the output (as much as possible) on a spectrum analyser.

I use simpler approach; 31 - band EQ with LED indicators on each knob. I increase sensitivity until it starts oscillating, lower down some knob, increase sensitivity, and so on...

Such a way I can use large diaphragm microphones on 3-4 feet distance from singers.

Here is an example I recorded on a cellphone. However, my line arrays have low distortions and pretty far frequency response on axis and off exis, you cn hear it on the recording I made with my cellphone while walking.
