Custic should be something you look into... Love mine good 50$ spent
Heard Dayton audio subs sound good... They are home audio based so they will need a big box
It has a lot todo with the amp though I call it the 201070rule 20% amp 10% speaker 70 % knowledge
Also any sub in a good sealed box tends to work alright

sometimes a 49 general electric am radio is just down right cooler than the 100+ watts of sound around

Carvin 10" woofer 59 bucks plus 10 shipping
Performs really close to an eminence alpha 10 works in small boxes, handles my 5 string bass very well
Makes awesome stage monitors

Not sure what you are after but Pyle's PPA10 for $30 is hard to beat as well, I have 6 of them in a Sunn 610 cabinet,

Best sounding for what purpose ? Used with what other equipment? Full range, or part of a multi way system? You get the idea... We need more info to answer your question.
