this might seem like a stupid question but here it goes, i recently baught a used cx 2310 crossover that i want to use for my sub, my sub is a peavey sp 2g full range speaker, so am i correct in the way i am hooking this up.

from the mixer out, to the input of the crossover, from the sub out of the crossover to the amp, or instead of using the sub out should i use the low out of the crossover, also on the back of my speaker there is a high pass and bi amped low pass, the low pass is the one i am using.

also what buttons should be pushed on the cross over, i have never used a cross over before and just want to make sure everything is correct.

any help would be appreciated

The back of my Peavey SP2-XT (previous model to the G) has regular and bi-amp inputs. The biamp inputs are labeled "hi" and Low". If you want to use the SP2G as a sub, you put low frequencies into the "low". The 2004 specs on the SP2 say it has a NUtrik Speakon 4 pin connector for the bi-amp high and low. There is probably a picture of the pins of the speakon on the back of the speaker, there is on my CS800 amp. If you are using the SP2 as a sub, you use the "low" pins only. The crossover probably has labels on the output of "High" and Low" or something, I don't anything about those. If you don't have a matching speakon connector, farnell.com has them as well as Peavey.
Oh, there is a picture at the end of the spec. Pins 1+ and 1_ are the LF inputs.

If it was mine, I'd route the mixer out into the crossover, with it set to stereo 2-way.

Set the 2-way crossover to ~80Hz, and the sub crossover to the same (experiment to find the best results for your system).

Send the crossover high pass out to the main speakers, and the subwoofer out (which is mono) to the subwoofer.


This will keep bass away from your midbass drivers, so the range they are covering will be cleaner. Also engage the 25Hz filter - your speakers won't reproduce <25Hz cleanly, and attempting to do so will just eat up system headroom.

All i want to do is run the peavey speaker as a sub (1\4 " jacks, so i guess im hooking it up correctly, out of mixer to iput of crossover out of sub out on crossover to the amp, now just have to what buttons i should have on or off, i could use some help there

25Hz filter engaged, and that's about it if you only want a subwoofer crossover.

Try the phase invert button on the Subwoofer control to ensure you get best integration.

It should light up yellow.

Thanks for everyones help, have beautifull bass, not overpowering, just nice and tight even at very high volumes
