I think lightbulbs (of the correct size) work better than a Polyswitch or circuit breaker, and the zener and clipper circuits are not very good either.

The Polyswitch or circuit breakers have very long trip times, suitable for woofers, but of limited use for HF devices.

The lag in resistance changes for the lightbulb may be measured in 10s of milliseconds, and are well suited to HF driver characteristics.

Clipper circuits act to fast, and don't allow for the 10dB transient capability that most HF drivers posess.

Lightbulbs work.

If you want to guild the lilly, add a relay in parallel with the lightbulb.
