Well, i stand corrected!.
When they record a guitar or bass guitar live, do they record it
thru a mike or they pick-up sound via an " pre-amp out" ?.

As a general rule electric guitar is always mic'ed but bass could be either or a mixture of both.

PS: Many bass guitars have active electronics built in powered by a 9v battery. A friend of mine is a bass player and frequently does not bother bringing his amp to to a gig. He just plugs his bass straight into a di box.

Ditto again.

And I never heard a "direct out" of a guitar amp that sounded worth a damn. Not so for bass. So a mic on front of the guitar amp is the way to go.
