If I wanted a 2.05 vertical compression lens (to split the difference between 16:9 and 2.35), could I do it by taking a Panamorph and changing the angle between the prisms?

You could, but you might also try simply changing the angle of the tilt of the lens itself. What I found was that the amount of compression could be changed, but I did not bother to measure the exact limits.

The same goes for HE lenses where by rotating the lens, the stretch can be expanded or reduced to get the exact 33% required...

"you might also try simply changing the angle of the tilt of the lens itself."

I asked at AVS Forum and a Panamorph owner says it effects the geometric distortion but not the compression.

To be clear, by "You could" do you mean I could try it, or that understand the optics and know for a fact that it would change the compression ratio?

If it is changing the geometry, then it IS changing the compression...

Ive read through most of the posts on here and wow, you guys have come a long way. Think i might just jump on the CIH bandwagon. Is it worth just getting some trophy glass and having a crack? Or are there better results to be had another way.
Phil.

Skip the liquid filled prisms The trophies are a good place to start to see how you like CIH, then you can look into other options (more expensive no less)...

Hello everyone, this is a great thread on Anamorphic Lens!

Since I am a DIY person, I am interested in making a DIY Anamorphic lens. Looks like I found the right place to learn.

I found a supplier of optical crystal wedges, and was woundering if they would work.

website:

Let me know if they will, price is very reasonable.

Thanks
Mike
