Yeah thanks for the pics.
It looks old based on the prisms case castings. Do you know what year it was made, or who made it? I can see the chip you were referring to in the front prism - a real shame. Cab you still use it or does it affect the image? Please measure and post the prisms sizes as well as the distances between them. Could you replace those prisms with the J series prisms? Awesome device Mark

Dang, that is a sweet lens setup. Any mechanical engineers out there that can duplicate it? I'm handy but that may be outta my league.

The whole thing measure 5.5" x 8"
The Distance from the front Prisim to the Back Prisim is 2.5" None of the J series will fit in this thing |

So it is a lot smaller than it looks...
So where did it come from? Mark

Totally off topic, as usual...I recently re-mounted my lenses in a straight housing and the reflections i'm getting are HORRIBLE(the credits from CARS is brutal!)! I think i'll go back to the tapered one I was using. I tried to taks pictures of the image between the lenses but it really doesn't show too well. On the straight box, the first lens near the PJ reflects (looking from front to back(PJ) on the right wall, then this image is reflected thru the front(second) prism as a ghost image. The tapered housing doesn't have the same wall angle as the straight one so the reflection isn't intense. Painted insides & trying to absorbe reflections...
Just letting you know. Bud |

"Aussiemorphic Lens". It seems to work with minimal reflections... Mark

Did you try the cut away side like mine?
Actually I did...causing more problems...I get MORE reflection off to the right side now from the front lens facing right. Like I said, i'll go back to the tapered one & see. I think the reflection problem is magnified because we're using such large lenses & the space between. I checked the size of the light beam from the last prism & THINK I could get away with using the small J24 prisms. Of course, I don't HAVE 4 of those but maybe i'll get a couple more & try it out some time. I went with just securing the prisms in the housing & set up a track to move it out of the way. Simpl & easy for now. I just want to start WATCHING movies. Bud |

Hey Bud,
Just thought of this... What about lining the inside of the housing with black velvet? It's used to mask the screen edge and soak up light spill there; why not inside the housing? One drawback I can think of though is it might act like a dust collector. But if the housing is sealed it may not be too bad. Andy |
