If ever you are bringing ladies over to your 'space age bachelor pad', i suggest meeting them at the door in your smoking jacket...with a pipe and a snifter of brandy at hand.... and a little Esquivel blasting on the quadraphonic. This is the way Hugh Hefner would have wanted it.
Seriously, though..... if you haven't heard Esquivel, you need to download or go buy a cd....if at the very least, for humor's sake. It's 'cabana music' if i have my terms right. Esquivel was a latino composer in the 50s-60s that was really into technology and Stereophonics. It's like orchestral swinger music that's all about stereo panning.....the horn solo sliding from one speaker to the other like old Jimi Hendrix tracks. He wrote songs like "mucha muchacha" and other such hits that deserve you strolling around the veranda sipping a martini to ( whilst doing a little dance). Anyways, you should take a listen... or at least a look at his bio, since it's a year aniversary of his death, you disrespectful bastage! http://www.spaceagepop.com/esquivel.htm -Maz |

Thanks for the tip, for i didn`t come any further then Luie,Luie El Touchy ( Songs In The Key Of Z) I`ve already ordered a copy of Space Age Bachelor Pad Music (compilation) The local cdhop-owner told me it takes about a week to get here and that`s too bad, for i can hardly wait to hear such good music. Do you have any recommendations to what other cd`s/vinyl by Esquivel i really should listen to? See ya...

This is the one i have...Cabaret Manana. If you want an idea of what it's going to sound like, listen to the first 2 samples ( click the url's on the tracklist at the bottom of the page above) I'm just really excited to hear this album when i get my Lowthers with some 300b amps pushing them ![]() Like i mentioned above, he was really into HIFI as well as into composition.....so i'm interested to see how the production sounds on a decent system. |
