WQXR is available through AOL -- the compression isn't great but they do have the Metropolitan Opera on Saturdays. WNYC FM has "New Sounds" -- a great show -- WMTRAM.COM is pretty recent -- oldies from the 1950's, 60's 70's.

hi
when ever ( i do not say 'if ever' !!! ) you get tired of listening to main stream RIAA Corporation Controlled Radio contents of the most commercial western europe and north america money generating style then go for something else we have nice African, Indian, Asian world music stations just a matter of doing some little search for it and you will discover new music sounds, that will calm your senses a bit and give you new sensations Here is one station I got from one of my Arabic Middle East good internet friends: Quote:
http://www.lebanon.com/radio/ you might like it even if you are listening to stuff from a country that is more or less a zone of war, blood and killings but also so much more, with an interesting culture Quote:
Regards to all arabic and middle east diyaudio.com members as well as members with a skin colored otherwise than pure whitish lineup |

Unfortunately, it says that my Windows Media player is outdated (which is false) and I don't want to download yet another player.
But of course ANY culture is most welcome. /Hugo |

You do not have to use WinMedia player there are others, you know. And in the popup, you have a links for Other MP3 Player and Setup your internet speed and select your own player. You can browse your player programs. I think I have like 3-4 different such player softwares in my PC. Setup player for RadioLebanon.com ----------------------------- If you have not yet A working player use this freeware ( non commercial - no ads! ): VLC media player - http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ It is not extremely looking - but that player can do most any streaming media! Quality wise, the Dutch station from post #19 is the best.
Lineup, I'll try the other player as suggested. /Hugo |

Brilliant thread!!!!
lineup.. thank you for that robust little player. I'm using Win ME for streaming right now - listening to classicfm.nl. If anyone else happens to have a problem with unicows.dll error messages trying to install this player let me know, but it's probably just a glitch with WinME in my system. I'll give you a link to fix it. |

www.soma.fm has some fun stations that I enjoy. The Christmas Lounge channel is my favorite christmas music ever. The Secret Agent Channel is good, too. Heck, it's all good.
Rhapsody has some good stations too. 25 of their 100 channels are available without subscription. |
