Yes, Sandy Denny, Joni Mitchell have had a mention, but where is Janis Joplin?

One of my faves is a local one-namer, Seela. seela - for love and fun.

We ran into her last night at a Lee Barber show and will see her playing tonight.

...reminds me of the Randy Newman line:

"If Marx were living today, he'd be rolling around in his grave".

You don't have to be dead to get my respect, but it doesn't hurt.

Portishead (Beth Gibbons)

Lots of good tunes. A good place to start..

"Roads"
- intimate concert setting, unforch distorted sound
- better sound version (but no video)

A lot of wannabes. Few did it better in the day..

Siouxsie and the Banshees

Again, lots of good tunes. One of the better song/video combos..

Very impressed with Sri Lankian via Australia Danielle di Niese playing Despina in Cosi fan tutte yesterday at the Met. Would make a good "fille" in "du regiment" -- she sings better than Natalie Dessay

If you want to sleep with birds, put a parakeet in your room -- read this on Joan Baez:

I think my mother went to see Cosi yesterday. I'll ask her what she thought. I should have gone.
