But, those that haven't heard of Eva Cassidy, should take note before it's too late.
Well, this might sound stupid, but -- too late for what???

I would say that the new and most exciting female operatic stars has to be Anna Netrebko -- she has a wonderful new release on DG -- I think it was a record of the month for Gramophone.

...and Russian gals know how to shoot:

But neither one looks like Anna Netrebko!

What album are you talking of (I do in fact own most of them and I have seen/heard her live). The sound of most of her DG albums is not that grat unfortunately.

Charles

The album to which I refer is her Russian Album: http://www.deutschegrammophon.com/sp...o-russianalbum

she sang with Rolando Villazon at the Met this past year.

I have that one also. What I also like is the "Mozart Album" which is featuring people like Garanca, Terfel, Quasthoff etc besides Netrebko. Soundwise it is quite good compared to other DG productions (the first two Netrebko albums are quite muddy IMO).

Another recent DG album that I like is the following by Anne Sphie von Otter - singing Andersson/Ulvaeus songs:

There is only a small (mostly acoustic) combo playing. She has one of the contemporary mezzo voices that I like the most BTW.

Regards

Charles
