Hi all
Not sure if this is the right thread. Mods, feel free to move it.
I have a collection of LP's, covering the genres of classical, popular, rock & disco, acquired between the late 60's and the early 80's. Given the collectability of some of this type of material, where (in Sydney, Australia for preference) could I get a realistic appraisal of its value.
Thanks
Rob

Look, not sure if this is any help but there are places in the area between Central and the the CBD. I'm in Brisbane and was in Syd' a year or two ago.....picked up a s/h copy of "Blows Against the Empire" (Jefferson Starship circa 1971) in a back street shop. Now it was dark and I'm not an expert on the area but it felt like a continuation of Pitt St. heading west. But I'm sure that the Yellow Pges would help and I reckon if you went into one of those secondhand places in George St that flog s/h books etc they'd point you in the right direction. Alternatively, if you go to the "Melbourne Audio Club" website (google it) you'll find in there links section a selection of shops in Melb' that are vinyl outlets and I guess a couple of calls to them would turn up addresses that are LOCAL for you. With specialists in this area they are bound to network nationally etc. Also "Bump" your post up here again after 7.30pm tonight when all the Aussies are surfing and you may get more specific info'. Good luck and greeting from Qld the Smart and Dry State. Melb' got tense this week with ONLY 46% in the dams.......we're down to 27%. Jonathan

same here!

i started buying records, singles, EPs and LPs
in middle of 1960-ies

What are those olden goldies worth?
I guess this is according to what anyone wants to pay

But any good websites?

Here below is only one example of mine.

( I can promise you I have plenty of more!
like The Wailers 'Catch A Fire' LP album in original )
Recorded in Jamaica in 1972
Author: Bob Marley

The Wailers were working on a follow-up album of Soul Rebels when an urban development project was set in motion in the Greenwich Park Road precinct. Much of Newland Town and neighboring Arnett Gardens was razed, and what came to be known as "Concrete Jungle" was constructed. Bob wrote a few lines in his ledger for a future tune about having to relocate, and they evolved into a song of the same name.
)

Mint condition album of mine
( I recorded my albums to tape cassette
and so only play LP once or twice
enjoying the music on my cassette player unit instead )

Bryan Ferry 1973
These Foolish Things

Not too long ago I was looking for the fair market value of some of my vinyl records and a colleague at work pointed me to this site.

http://www.gemm.com/

They describe how to rate the condition of your records and you can see how much people are asking for each title. They have sellers from all over the world. I hope this helps you guys.

thanks very much, grimberg
I will go check out that website, and it is in my bookmarks now.

As I have many old original LP, it will be most interesting
what value dedicated vinyl collectors and lovers
would put onto my old stuff.

thanks
