Default playing old records-sprays

I have a few old albums that I would like to digitise that fall into the pretty worn and scrarchy category, I have washed them and this helps heaps, but I wonder if there is something I can spray on them to get them a little less noisy.

I thought about a coat of armourall, which probably wouldn't be good in the long term but basically I will only play these disks the once to digitise them so I'm not worried about that, though glugging up the stylus might worry me.

Before buying a proper record cleaning machine, I had success simply playing records wet (water).

Thanks Ill give that a try, I just gave the armourall a try on an old record and polished the record with a micro fibre cloth.

Amazingly it worked really well, killed the surface noise stone dead! and the disc sounds good too though clearly a bit worn but much better for transferring.

The needle didn't seem to pick up any sticky residue but I'd say a clean after each transfer with alcohol would be a good idea.

Oh well on with the experiements
