Hi,

Christer,

Allow me to recommend most of Janacecks' work on the Supraphon label...

It's simply enthralling, I recommend the vinyl version though, unless you have a very good DAC.

Enjoy,;)

Actually, I don't think I said which recording I bought ;)

I did buy the Decca redording, though. However, also the
1965 Supraphon recording (the first complete recording of
the work) was availabel in at least one store, so I did have
a choice and I am not at all sure I made the right choice.
Being swedish myself it is perhaps a little bit like swearing in
the church to say that I am not fully convinced by Söderströms
singing. The nerve and drama is not quite there until the end of
act 3, I think, and the same holds for Mackerras conducting.
I get a feeling they are putting emphasis on making the music
beutiful rather than dramatic. I am tempted to buy also the Supraphon recording to hear Prylova as Marty, since I understand
she does a more dramatic version of the role.

I didn't realise she/he ( Walter) was still producing the switched on Bach series. A good friend of mine used to have a good selection of the earlier recordings. Does the new stuff sound the same or is there use of more modern technology?

She does use more modern technology, but she still makes it sound like the old Moog synths. In fact, she still uses some of the old Moog equipment in her recordings. She also uses about 5 or 6 Klipsch Cornwalls in her "home recording studio" because she now records a lot of her music in Dolby Digital. It's pretty neat.

If you like her style of music, you should buy some of her newer cd's.

Funny that you mention you friend having a collection of her older stuff, because I do too, on LP, even when she was still a he, (Walter)!

(S)he also did the soundtrack to A Clockwork Orange, which is a great addition to my collection.

@RAysimmons
What a random! Just wanted to post me listening the 25th hour soundtrack!
I like to hear it from track 12 on to the end most. Some parts of this
soundtrack are genious although i didn´t see the film.

But now while typing this post i listen an old classic "Ommadawn"
from Mike Oldfield.

Maybe time for a new footnote below my posts to take yourself more time
to find good musik than wasting it with finding a better cap....
