For those that don't know, I do hobby audio mixing for quite a few live bands in my local area... Newcastle. NSW. Australia
Many of these bands are formative, or 'once in a while' gigs, and I try to get basic 'live to stereo' recordings of most of them. They are in Windows Media format (sorry if that doesn't suit some people), and a fast connection would be advisable !! The aim is to post recordings in a reasonably good quality format. (its a space vs quality judgement). The turn around time for a particular collection will hopefully be 2-4 weeks Anyhow..... here are most of the tracks from a recent gig. Enjoy !! Feed back on if peoples like them would be nice :-) http://users.tpg.com.au/users/gradd...ve%20Music.htm:) |

Back when you first posted this the link did work. Did you plug cables during the recording? (first song for example)

that was something Justin did to his amp... weird noise hey !
Hey, no sound check etc... set up and play, so naturally the first track is a bit wobbly !! and the band was just getting to know each other.. |

I´m no recording engineer but I think the mix is quite good. Don´t really like to hear cover-bands anymore so that doesn´t help. (played in one myself...) I could play this to my buddy if you want some professional comments. Nice idea BTW.

my aim is to get the best recording I can with the simplest gear, on the fly with no post mixing !!
If was aiming at a truly professional product I would approach things much differently !.. like feeding direct outs to a multitrack recorder so I could mix it later. But by all mean let him hear it, on the proviso he understands how it was recorded As for the "cover" music stuff, I can understand your point. Justin, Nick, Nik, Annie, Romano all have separate bands they play in and do quite a large proportion of their own music, but when you just throw a band together from bits and pieces (that's what the "Band of No-Goods" is), it is far easier to play stuff they have all at least heard !! btw.... "Fly on the wall" was actually written by Nik's grandfather |
