Oh man, that ones killing me. It was played a lot when I started in 'stereo' sales in the late 70's. I will get it soon. I can think 'Drivers Seat' but not the band.

I thought it was Frank Zappa just from the phrasing of the lyric but couldn’t work out which song. After cheating (googling) it’s Broken Hearts are for Assholes’

For my guess, the band's name is actually Sniff 'n' the Tears.
