Jaki provided a very steady backbeat to my rather unsteady life.

The first gig I've ever been to was CAN who played a free concert one afternoon in the town I was living in at the time. I was 6 or 7 at the time.

Oh yes, you lived in Germany? Are you German? I used to live in Brum! Erdington to be precise.

I'm the local cryptogerman here.
Moved from Berlin (West) to Brum back in '87 largely to avoid national service.

Seen Jaki a few years ago playing with Jah Wobble, Bill Laswell and a couple of others whose names I don't remember in Coventry.

One of my daughters is studying Maths in Aberystwyth.
