What's the diff?.......they both get crushed.
They made a few other goofs on that album....and the one at Roxy. I was at a concert in Santa Fe back in the early 80s, that a friend of a friend was the promotor. He swore that he would never do another Zappa concert. According to him: Zappa had 4 shows in his repetoire. He would show up at the concert, and announce to the band which one they were going to do that night. They were expected to play it flawlessly, with whatever style/motif changes that he may decide in a middle of song. Which would itself change again. If you didn't, he had musicians waiting to take your place. The entire show is tightly scripted and choreographed. He had the road manager fire Napoleon Murphy Brock after the show, because he did something that resembled.....shall we say.....an unnatural sex act involving a water bottle and a rag doll. It was not part of the show, and the crowd loved it. That was the end of Murph's days with the band. According to "Flo and Eddie", whom I heard interviewed about their days with Zappa: They felt that his genius was to take the nasty stuff that was discussed around the breakfast table, an handing it back to you that night in the form of a script. And you wonder how the Cadillac morphed into in Lincoln. Jocko |

Frank came on and said "we're going to do something stupid -- play 23 new songs". They then proceeded to play, the last note of one somg becoming the 1st of the next. It was one of those experiences that seemed to last forever, but take no time at all I always figured the Cadillic/Lincoln thing was fully scripted. His Grand Wazoo helped keep me sane when i spent 12 weeks living among the Indians of the NWT. dave

"What Kind of Girl Do You Think We Are?" is the song you're thinking of?
I only saw them once, at the old Lyric Theater in Baltimore. I remember a visual gimmick involving a baby doll and a salami as their Big Outrageous Moment- some pretty fine playing, including a memorable "Willie the Pimp." I wish I could have seen them a few years before, the band with Ian Underwood, Jimmy Carl Black, Don Preston, and Roy Estrada.
