Hi There;

Try Rick Wakeman's Six Wives of Henry VIII, it's a C3 and awesome.

Genesis - Foxtrot has some great organ work as well

Badger - One Live Badger (Tony Kaye ex Yes)

ELP - Brain Salad Surgery

U.K. - Danger Money (not sure what kind of organ Jobson was playing but it's amazing)

and all of these are pretty much from the old days...:D
Best

Matt

What made the Hammond B3 unique was that all the notes were created from tonewheels. Motor driven spinning mechanical gear-like objects that had their output detected by pickups. Little signal processing was used to form the "sound" or voice. Each key had one switch per note, depending on whether it was 8', 4 ' and so one. With so many switches per key, cleaning them could be problematic. An advantage to the Hammond keyboard was that the attack and release of the notes was faster than any other organ. Notes could be turned on/off so fast that the keyboard allowed you to play it like a percussion instrument. Many of the better players use that ability. Listen to "Hush" by Deep Purple, for example. The Leslie speaker, usually used with all B3s, added some unique abilities to the total package. Since the Leslie was a rotating speaker(s), speeding it up, slowing it down and stopping it while playing the B3 created another layer of "the Hammond sound" Usually there was a high and low speed for the Leslie. The draw bars were used to mix the harmonics for each note. Many artists changed the draw bars while playing as well.
As a total instrument, nothing has ever come close to these organs.
