Watching Steve Vai playing live is a strange experience.
The audience was a sea of grey headed wrinklies (average age around 60yrs old) mainly just standing entirely motionless, as if critically appraising his performance only. This despite the highly animated band.
At least that is what it was like when he performed at Wolverhampton. Also it was painfully loud, even with earplugs. Actually with the earplugs I was better able to hear his playing, otherwise drowned out by massive bass.
Several hours of non stop guitar solos and impressive gurning (over a wind machine) from the man himself.
