It's a Black Country thing.

Brummies are from Birmingham and Slade are from Wolverhampton. There is a keen rivalry between the two places with Brummies sometimes referring to the latter as Yam-yams - as part of their regional dialect sometimes replaces "You are" with "Yo'am" and "Are you" with "Am'ya".

+1. I'm a Brummy. Black Country is area to the west of Birmingham in reality it is one large urban area. It includes Wolverhampton, Dudley and many smaller towns. It's called the Black Country because it used to be a coal mining area. Black Country folk are called Yam-Yams because when you meet one you are likely to be greeted by the phrase "Ow Yam doin'?"
They are amongst the friendliest people on the planet..........

Thanks, folks, for your explanations !

Best regards!

Salt is not a spice, it's a condiment, a mineral, but not from a plant as a spice should be.

As to Herbs/Spices - A spice is a seed, fruit, root, bark, or other plant substance primarily used for flavoring, coloring or preserving food. Spices are distinguished from herbs, which are the leaves, flowers, or stems from plants used for flavoring or as a garnish.

What's wrong with saffron?

It is not just a spice, it is the most expensive one. Saffron is the dried the stamen of a crocus flower.

Not sure, as part of the flower wouldn't it technically be a herb? It's not seed or fruit.....
Most, if not all of the spices are (mostly) dried parts of a plant - the stem, the root, the leaves, the flowers or parts of, the fruits or like in the wormwood example, the whole part (leaves in particular).
Wormwood is mostly used to spice up alcohol like Bitters, Vermouth, Absinthe or Campari.
