The 15 Song Album collection:

I remember......I started in 1975 with a SWTPC (the Tiger Amps people, built all of them too) 6800 system. 2K of ram, 8 bit processor at 921 KHz (yes KiloHertz), program loading via cassette tape at 1200 baud. It grew to occupy an entire 8 foot wide workbench and the linear power supply dimmed the lights on power up. After over two years of making hardware and writing assembly code, we got the Starship Enterprise up on the screen. We never did get it to do much else. We did get some crude 8 bit music out of it.

After working my way up the food chain at Motorola and making it to electrical engineer without formal education, they paid me to go to college and get a degree in Computer Engineering. I passed all those programming classes, but learned that I didn't want to be a programmer for a living, so I kept on designing hardware. My 41 year career came to an end a couple of years ago, and now I find my self making cool toys with little computer boards. Yes, some, no most, of them make sound.....some might even call it music.

Arduino and the like have simplified that "coding" stuff enough that even a 64 year old analog vacuum tube guy can make cool stuff.

gasboss775 I tried my hand at 6502 assembler on the 64 but I couldn't get my head around 8 bit registers and how to deal with numbers bigger than 255!! 68000 assembler on the other hand I really got into, such a nice instruction set!

Some of the above posts took me back a bit ( no pun intended :) ) I've always played computer games and i remember back when the commodore and spectrums were the peak of technology .
Renting games on cassette for GBP 5 per day , 45 minutes loading times to be greeted by failed to load errors. Magazines with " free " games , 60 odd pages of coding you had to laboriously type in. I only did it successfully once for a game called " space attack " or something like that , to be greeted with a green square that did nothing but wow colour this was high- tec stuff . :)

Yeah, cassette tape storage was a nightmare. Our first home computer was a Sinclair ZX81, which came with 1KB RAM ( yes 1 millionth of a gigabyte ! ) or you could extend it with a 16K RAM pack which was notoriously unreliable, as it was secured to the computer using only a PCB edge connector and frequently lost contact causing the system to crash. We went through multiple cassette recorders trying to find one that worked reliably. By the time the commodore 64 came along there must have been progress made with the tape interface ( they used a proprietary tape deck ) as it was considerably more reliable, though still achingly slow.

Took the car to job (1,5 miles) as it was to rainy for the bike. Planned to go to the mall, 10 miles away to buy myself an USB/TTL-adapter for my Arduino boards. However when looking for a NE555 I found an adapter I accidently bought a year ago.:D

Ok i'll revise ... Songs that have the title in the very last line of the lyrics , minimum three words so Ashes are Burning is ok SB :)
