Probably not a problem, we seem to be playing fast and loose with this subject anyway given that it is '80s Punk' and London Calling was released in '79, Sugarcubes are not punk and the Sex Pistols had long ceased to exist. ;-)

it is '80s Punk'

Technically we got Sedated in 78 or 79. Punk started in the UK in the 70's and lasted well into the 90's. Punk also gave us grunge and several others.

How did you like them then?

How well do you remember the details of an all day concert that happened almost 20 years ago.?

I had a couple Ramones CD's, along with CD's from several other bands that were there. Metallica, Soundgarden, Ramones, Rancid, Rage Against the Machine, Screaming Trees, Psychotica...

I remember that it was hot, dusty, and loud. There was a police helicopter that kept buzzing the crowd stirring up dust. There were about 20,000 people with plenty of drugs and nudity. The only band I didn't like was Rage. Too loud and overly distorted. I couldn't understand the words except for the "F" word which was used a lot.

The Ramones played in the afternoon heat (about 95 degrees and the stage faced the sun) right after (or before?) Rancid. The Ramones announced that this was their final tour, and would cease to exist after Lollapalooza was over. I think that Joey already had cancer. They didn't play long because of that.

Soundgarden played as night fell and Metallica ended the show around 10 PM

Hi Charles,
Please allow me to disagree. London Calling was released in the UK Dec 19th 1979.
However it was only released in January 1980 in the US.
Since diyaudio is a US site, I am technically right and accurate! :D

The diyaudio site seems to be located in Lansing, Michigan?
Just the server Jacques. It has to be somewhere. Actually it's only been in the States for a little bit. It has been in different locations around the world in the past.
Cheers.

Ya know I just noticed we're in the Music thread, maybe we should go back to that.
