Lou Reed and DMR as one-hit wonders? This must be a whole new definition of the genre I haven't previously encountered...

Might depend where you live - A 'one hit wonder' in one country might have a string of hits in another.

pretty sure Lou Reed has global reach. Transformer alone makes it onto the NME, Rolling Stone and Q Magazines Top 200...

None-the-less - on with the show!

I would also tend to disagree with Ten Years After, since they were at a little party called Woodstock and I have 5 of their albums. There were also a few more released that I didn't have.

Lou Reed has only had 1 Top 40 (or is it Top 20?) single. TYA's "I'm Going Home" also charted. I was gonna use Ram Jam but it seems they had some other hits. Tommy Tutone had "Jenny", but perhaps also "Angel Say No" and "Which Man Are You?" All rather academic, but there tain't nothin wrong with that either

I agree that in some cases groups will have a string of hits in one country or even region of a larger country and are almost unheard of elsewhere. Also, what defines a hit? Does making it to #99 during a period when there is very little else released qualify? Another good example would be Red Rider. Up here in Canada they had close to a dozen "hits" and were very popular on the radio, but in the U.S. Lunatic Fringe was their only hit.

I agree with those who are surprised by the entries but as mentioned that's geographical. So with that in mind...

01- Video Killed the Radio Star - The Buggles
02 - Eye of the Tiger - Survivor
03 - I'd Love to Change the World - Ten Years After
04 - Ride Captain Ride - Blues Image
05 - MacArthur Park - Richard Harris
06 - Walk On The Wild Side - Lou Reed

12 - In the Year 2525 - Zager & Evans
13 - Jenny / 8675309 - Tommy Tutone
14 - Spirit In The Sky - Norman Greenbaum
15 - Incense and Peppermints - Strawberry Alarm Clock

Now, let me think...
