yes the Island Girl was certainly playing up storm in the 90's; to my taste, with the exception of "Girl in the Other Room", the last few albums were embarrassments, and the most recent sounds like the vocals were literally phoned in

And yes I think they put a lot of the "basement" stuff on the early albums. From what I heard the entire original band wasn't even signed.

Cloudkickers new album Portmanteau (FLAC). Free to download if you like, kind of metal with no vocals and much lower very repetative with the tune made up not by one instument but by the whole.
