The one solo from Eddie Van Halen that always sticks in my mind is "Hear About It Later" from "Fair Warning", arguably their heaviest album with every track a winner.

Glenn (VH fan)

I always felt it EVH copied to much from things Jeff Beck did a decade earlier.
Though EVH put a nice twist on it, JB was doing all of that and more long before EVH was a gleem in daddy's eye..

Of course, my idea of quick pickin would be the early Sweep pickers like Chet Atkins.

At about 1:12 in Jerry's Breakdown.

Cmon, Beck can't really be compared to EVH. Different players. Eddie will be the first to admit he listened to everyone and copied them note for note, but he put a whole new twist on rock guitar that was his own. I guess I am biased, I've been a VH fan since their first album in '78, mainly because of Eddie. Other faves are Jimmy Page and Steve Vai, to name a couple.

Eddies worst Solo? The self titled track of the "Seventh Seal" album. Probably the first time a VH track did not include at least a 16 bar solo. I think Eddie was having alcohol problems at the time.

You armchair critics got a lot of nerve. Picking a best solo is one thing, but trying to pick a worst one is a low form of behaviour. I bet none of you can play worth a damn.
