Does anyone know if there are
different pressings or re-issues of
this 2-cd album:

Private Investigations: The Best of Dire Straits & Mark Knopfler
Released:November 15, 2005?

I am looking for one with the best recording,
if such exists.

Yes there are. Have a look at allmusic.com.
As for the best sounding one, I have no idea.
You might want to buy them all and compare.
