At the beginning of track 6 on the Roger Waters album, 'Amused to Death', is the sound of
A clock ticking? Somebody tapping a finger? Dripping water? Something else?

I've got it, too. The Q sound effects didn't work well with my dipoles, so it's been sitting for a while (the music is deadly dull). I'll try to take a listen later if the fireworks aren't too loud.

Well Steve, at the risk of influencing anybody esle, that is what I hear too!
Sy, the Q effects work very well with my dipoles! What are you using as a source? PA, it is track 9 where the wood-chopper is in action!

Lots of us has the "Amused to death" album
To get back on topic, yes its water dripping (Roger's Water The guitar on that particular track sounds really great and crisp. What a nice set of finely tuned and nice sounding strings Steen |

That's odd because I found the Q effects were better after moving to dipoles! Just goes to show, there is much more to all this than we understand!

I wouldn't want to see it become common place, but I've heard albums since that would benefit from Q sound treatment., one being Bugge Wesseltoft's 'Filming'.

Great to hear a discussion about this awesome Roger Waters CD. It is perhaps his best album and clearly demonstrates why the Waterless Pink Floyd sound so "reduced" without his creative input. The sound is fantastic with Gilmour beating guitar solos from Andy Fairweather Low. Whist we are on the subject of Mr Waters you must listen to the "Pros and Cons of Hitch-hiking" all the way through without interuption or disturbance with your eyes shut and in the dark for the full effect. His soundscapes are a form of art and a way of adding a very individualistic sense of timing to his music. He does not need to rush from one track to another like so many, he creates a three dimensional and temporal space that you will be drawn into whilst listening. Good for him, he "is" a genius. Cheers everyone. ( his operatic musical is pretty interesting as well)
