Default White Stripes - Icky Thump

Not that I'm much of a fan of the white stripes or this song, I have a copy of it. This is seriously one of the most garbage sounding recordings I've EVER HEARD. Constant OBVIOUS clipping, horrible compression, CRAZY EQing, it sounds as if there's a bass hump around 60Hz, it makes my headphones sound like ported speakers!

I realise this is a well travelled topic but WHAT THE HELL IS THIS? I could make a better sounding recording with my little electret PC mic!

I think you missed the Music forum by a click.

But yes, their "recording method" sounds horrible, which in some sick way is "hip".

Horses for courses.

I love the song and style, His Raconteurs stuff has superior production though so there is a technique in there, if you don't like it don't listen to it!?!

Nick.

I had to find this thread now I just ordered this album about an hour ago. Is it bad for the White stripes or do you just not care for their sound?
