Those look like fairly large boxes- you should be able to put just about whatever you want in there without too much trouble. The boxes look kind of flimsy, though, so it would be a good idea to add some bracing, and maybe double the thickness of the panels.

You probably want to flush mount the new drivers. Can you give us the internal measurements. I bet your fellow Canadian Planet10 can probably direct you to some nice vintage drivers that would be suitable.

Hello

Tesla was a company from Poland (at least that what I know) that made a lot of speakers during the 1970's and 1980's perhaps even more. I have a pair of an old Tesla speakers that sound amazing even if their so old (these were sold in Romania with a magnetophone or magnetic recorder ). They are very sensitive. You should improve the cabinet before mounting other speakers because Tesla are not so powerfull. I have a 5.5 inch, around 15cm, woofers and 2 inch tweeters that are only 15 watts (at least that what was written on the woofer) but they sound unbelieveble.

Regards,

Andrei

Personally I would just bin the whole lot unless you really need to keep them for nostalgic reasons. I can see straightaway that the port has been done before people really knew how to do ports properly. The cabinets are nothing special and look a bit rubbish in my opinion.

You can make better yourself, especially if you have to buy new drivers. Things have come on a lot since the 1960s.

If you insist on keeping the cabinets, you would need to fit a port tube that will go in the hole already there, or just make it a little bigger to take the new tube. You would also need to add a good amount of bracing.

Tesla is a brand from CZECH REPUBLIC !!! and with more or less branches in Slovakia..In its golden time very successfull firm.......some Tesla speakers can be bougth on carboot sales or adverts....cheap as ..................... chips

I can have about 70-100 pcs of 8" drivers (from school, replaced by new speakers), but dont know what to do with them......i prefer other brands...............any idea?

I was going to point that out...

Yours are Model 666?

These are quite a decent budget vintage speaker. Best put in an open baffle IIRC. The boxes they came out of a only worth burning.

I think i have a spare one of these that needs some remedially attention to the lead-outs.

Found some data... depending on how well they have aged, looks like they will need bass support....

These definitely don't want to be trapped in a box.

I found this site on the forum Frugal-Horn and envisage to build the '' The BVRs 8'' (Bruce) ''. I will have a BETTER sound quality and great looking box.
Do you think its a good idea ?

Thanks
