Hi,
I have not used these speakers, but I think they would do a very good job in a line array. The price is right. What tweeters have you thought about using? I have a pair of unfinished line arrays that I would like to sell. I used Neo8's for the tweeter line. |

I did not get your email. My address is tuhlt <at> netscape.net
The woofers are Audax AP170MO. This is a low cost 6 inch woofer. Try sending another email using my address above. Not sure why I did not get the one earlier. tom |

See the picture when an array of ideal point sources is summed. I vote for the additional use of 2-3” drivers in a row before crossing over to a tweeter line if not wide band drivers like Neo8 are considered for the highs. b 1(2) |

I know of someone who didn't pay attention to matching the crossover with the tweeter and the midrange, and ended up with a real void in the 1600 to 2200 range where neither speaker covered it adequately.
My personal recommendation is for a real 3-way when doing line arrays. The woofers are 12 or 15's and handle 150-200hz and below, the midranges are 3-4 inchers and handle the frequencies between 200 and 2700 with no break for any kind of crossing, since this is the range of frequencies that the human ear is most sensitive to, and a tweeter system, either domes or ribbons handles it above 2700. Additionally the 3-4 inch midwoofers will have a much quicker transient response usually. Just my opinion though. Zarathu calipso@epix.net |
