Default Phantom Power with Condenser Mike

Im using a calibrated panasonic condenser mike and im considering buying an m-audio fasttrack pro. its a usb soundcard that also is a mike preamp and supplies phantom power to it. However, it supplies 48v of phantom power. Is that too much for the mike?

Thanks

Most sound cards will supply phantom power in the mic-in jack However, the software you are using for frequency measurement may not take readings via the mic-in. For example speaker workshop uses the line-in jack on the soundcard - requiring you to separately pre-amp your mic to bring it up to a line level input for recording.

If what you're after is a mic impedance converter / line driver that will plug into any mic pre that supplies 48V Phantom power, supplies power to the capsule and converts the high impedance of the capsule to a low impedance to feed to a mic preamp (the type you plug most studio or measurement mics into to increase the signal level) then have a look at this:

It's a whole thread on modding Behringer's ECM8000, but really it's all about making a new mic using the ECM8000 style body / casing and a panasonic (or similar) capsule.
