I've seen Siegfried Linkwitz's instructions for using the Panasonic WM-61A mic capsule, and (from some searching this forum) I've found that the Monacor MCE-2000 was the same as the WM-60AY, but neither of these parts are now available.

Additionally, there was apparently an article on making a mic using the MCE-2000 on the Monacor website. This too appears to have gone, and I've had no response from an email asking them for a similar doc on the MCE-4000.

So, does anyone have step-by-step details of how to build (and power) a mic based on the Monacor MCE-4000 capsule? Is the MCE-4000 the same unit as the WM-61A and/or could it be used in the same way as Linkwitz specifies?

Linkwitz's mic details here: http://www.linkwitzlab.com/sys_test.htm#Mic

MCE-4000 details here: http://www.monacor.com/int/en/produktseite_suche.php?artid=5174&spr=EN&typ=full

I build a microphone a few years ago with a eletret capsule (don't know which one)
it was simple and should be the same with mce-4000
-take a aluminium pipe 8mm diameter 30cm long
-push it over the microphone cable
-solder the cable to the capsule and to a 3,5mm mono jack plug
-tape the capsule to the pipe, I used electrical tape, and tape the cable at the other end making some sort of pull relief
microphone ready! :smash:
Frequency response was flat far beyond 10kHz.
