Hello, I found that one of the speaker tweeter voice coil is broken. I dismounted it and see the voice coil one side is badly overheated melting the varnish or glue. I used a multimeter to check the continuity and confirmed it was broken. Now, the wire is very thin, if I uncoil it until find the broken point and solder it and rewind again, the tightness of the coil cannot be same as before...more bulky and untidy and use what glue or varnish to refix it? It looks delicate... does it worth the attempt? Will the sound be the same after reconnecting? Thank you for your opinions and help.

Hi Tubesin,
as much as I hate to be the bearer of bad news - but your voice coil has had it.Just one glimmer of hope: you wrote you dismounted the wee thing...is it the kind that is easily detachable and self-centering when being reassembled? In this case you might be able to get a spare diaphragm/voice coil assembly, which is cheaper than binning the whole tweeter. Good luck! Pit |

Hi Pit Hinder,
Yes, it is quite easy to disassemble and have position fixing marks. I attach a photo for yr reference. If replace with a whole assembly, then, I need to replace also the other channel. And like to know where I can buy it with good quality. Thank you |

Oh boy! What did you connect them to - a nuclear powerplant?
tweeters in Macao seem to lead short interesting lives...OK, sorry - forget my idea. The way the coil looks I'd be afraid some of the molten/scorched lacquer might have fastened itself in the magnet gap. Sorry I couldn't give you a 64000$ idea, but at least you gave that tweeter a true Viking funeral pyre. Greetings, Pit |

Hi Pit, good news, I ventured into repair of it and discovered it has just broken the wire before entering the coil!!!!! I think it broke because of sudden pulse that made the coil and diaphragm jumped too much. It was repaired and without any quality of sound deterioration..... I also tried without success to find the same model to replace, but, neither the speaker producer nor its agent can supply, so, led to venture.....
