for their size, Karlson couplers can deliver very hard hits with very little cone excursion. K12 with PYM1298 for example could do some midbass duty and subjectively hits harder imo than FH1. Perhaps with some experimentation, a bit more LF extension and smoother graphs could be obtained. X15 size might be consideration too for hit-applications.

also - a middle unit might be employed - perhaps aperiodic vented (to ease Z interactions with passive xover) + Alpha 6 with a slot diffusor - or- a conical midhorn with tight rear chamber to build up a compact punchy system with low modulation distortion. K12 with PYM1298 should take the full force of Steve Clarke's Solo Drums trax at ~300W peaks without exceeding 3mm xmax - might be fun toy for horn guys.
